Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) is a skilled former F1 driver who never reached the pinnacle of success. He is recruited by Reuben (Javier Bardem), a past racing competitor who now oversees the struggling APXGP team in the F1 circuit. Sonny is tasked with mentoring Joshua (Damson Idris), the company's promising rookie driver. He imparts essential life lessons and shows that a driver should compete for the passion of the sport rather than the fame and recognition that come with success at this level.

Co-Writer/Director Joseph Kosinski, known for directing "Top Gun: Maverick," has brought many members from that project onto his current film. Co-Writer Ehren Kruger returns to contribute. Composer Hans Zimmer provides another dynamic score that aligns perfectly with the unfolding action. Cinematographer Claudio Miranda has significantly enhanced the already outstanding cinematic techniques he used in "Top Gun." Editor Stephen Mirrione, who did not participate in the earlier project, also merits recognition for crafting a narrative that begins swiftly and then builds momentum.
