The Elevators Podcast

F2 Ep. 15 - Remind me to never piss you off

Listen Later

Shailynn was diagnosed with a "terminal" condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) at 18 months old, thus beginning a long, unpredictable journey for her and her family. It seems normal to assume that such a devastating disability would hinder one's way of living, until you meet Shai. This badass and powerful woman spends most of her time advocating for the needs of people with SMA, hanging out with friends, rippin' bongs, and living selflessly, all while studying at Mount Royal University in Calgary. She does more shit in one hour than Teed does in an entire Sunday. Shai has managed to find her voice in a medical world which seems determined to silence her, and although she may not LOVE the title, she is truly an inspiration.
