Fabien Cousteau, world-renowned oceanographic explorer, conservationist, documentary filmmaker, and grandson of the legendary Jacques Cousteau, talks to UnPhiltered about his multiple projects to help save the oceans. Plain and simple: our oceans are in critical danger. From pollution to overfishing to climate change, many species of fish are approaching extinction, which would have devastating effects on the food chain and global ecosystem. By 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the world’s oceans. Trash is being eaten by marine life and has entered every level of the food chain. It might even end up in the seafood on your dinner plate!

Fabien Cousteau dedicates much of his time to the Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center. He is routinely seen on network television, such as the Oprah Winfrey Show, Gayle King, and NBC’s Today Show to name a few, and his Ted Talk has over a million views.

* The Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center was founded in 2016 by world renowned oceanographic explorer, conservationist and documentary filmmaker Fabien Cousteau to fulfill his dream of creating a vehicle for positive change in the world. Some initiatives include: coral reef restoration programs, sea turtles restoration programs, and educational resources for elementary grades to the university level, as well museum programming. These components allow them to empower communities and children to help restore local water ecosystems through the healthy “replanting” of key marine species and empower future stewards of ocean conservation.
