Lisianthus or 'Lizzies' to the flower trade - what a twirling, fluttering and unfurling little flower.
Paulie shares his fun and factual tips on how wonderful these little beauties are for weddings, bouquets and frankly any vase you like! Even Lucy uses these as they are readily available in her local supermarket as well.
Inexpensive to buy in the supermarket or corner shop Lisianthus in shades of pink, purple and in creams and whites they can be paired with all kinds of other star performers such as peonies, roses or stocks and yet are also capable of stealing the show on their own. And they last for a long, long time.
Sometimes known as 'Prairie Gentlemen' or a 'Poor Mans Rose' - you can see way, as they have wistful, fluttering petals that unfurl in a roselike way and they herald from hot parries and barren deserts.
For the Floriography Fun Facts this week these flowery lovelies focus on Ivy. With its historical references and Celtic drama - theres really so much intertwining the Ivy plant. It symbolises not only friendships but also marital bliss and can be found through history, especially in Ireland, on monument stones dating back through hundreds of years. You'll be amazed.
And, as if all that isn't enough, Paulie and Lucy honour the memory of Remembrance Day this November and uncover some fascinating and moving facts about the Poppy. Fabulous Flowers tv duet, Lucy & Paulie are all about Hypericum this week. An amazing plant or shrub with pretty flowers and a fantastic autumnal show or warm red berries. Hear how it grows pretty much everywhere and in many different guises, it is even a butterfly favourite.
Paulie loves to use Hypericum as it offers several different looks and can bring enormous texture and variety to his floristry and client work.
Floriography Fun Facts go all herby this week! The Bay is an evergreen herb and has been a staple in cookery since the Ancient Greeks use it to flavour many dishes. It carries two meanings for a recipient when sent as a message in a bouquet or as a gift, so you'll be right up to speed on Bay should you want to sent this particular message.
Hear how Paulie uses Bay in some of his incredible floral creations too - you'll be amazed.

With Halloween nearly upon us, our Fabulous Flowers tv duo, Lucy & Paulie, concentrate on a real Autumnal favourite, Physalis - probably better known as Chinese Lanterns. These architectural seed pods are a really textural and interesting addition to any display and as they are a paper thin, dried floral accessory they don't actually require water, so you can introduce them to so many different arrangements and displays.
Paulie shares a wonderful story where Chinese Lanterns nearly caused an upset when he was the Friendly Florist on 'This Morning' with Richard & Judy Finnegan.
Great for any Autumnal or seasonal celebrations from Harvest Festival and Thanksgiving to Guy Fawkes, these little orange beauties with their bright lantern like effect are completely warm and enchanting.
