The Who's ninth studio album Face Dances was released in mid-March 1981. The single "You Better You Bet" had been dancing up the charts, finding a comfortable spot at No. 4 in the US and No. 2 in the UK. At the time the Who were dabbling with this fresh form of music expression called the music video, and fans were eager to hear how the band would sound after the loss of their dynamic drummer Keith Moon.
