Facebook Data Collection, Another Hostel Twist & Over-Reaction to Comments

Chapter 1:
-Not satisfied with accessing the data of 87 million people without their consent, Facebook has reportedly requested access to the banking details of customers at four large US banks (JP Morgan, Wells Fargo, US Bancorp & Citigroup), according to the Wall Street Journal. The data Facebook wants includes card transactions and account balance information, as it tries to offer new buy-and-sell services to users through its Messenger app and increase user engagement. One bank reportedly pulled the plug on the talks amid concerns about customer privacy.
Chapter 2:
-Another twist in the saga of the Oasis Hotel and landlord Emily Yu. Two more former tenants have emerged to tell their stories. Darien Horwood says he was accused of causing $3,000 damage to Yu’s property, after he told her he was leaving the hostel he called home. He says he stayed there for five months, opting to live in a cramped space over being homeless.
Chapter 3:
-The scholarships of around 16,000 Saudi students in Canada have been cancelled, with Riyadh ordering them to leave Canada amid a rising diplomatic spat with Ottawa. It’s the latest in a war of words between the two countries, which started last week when Canada demanded Saudi Arabia immediately release women's’ rights activists being held in the Kingdom. Meanwhile - the US has said it’s not taking sides, releasing a statement saying both Canada and Saudi Arabia are close ‘partners’ of the US.
Chapter 4:
-Numerous women allege Dr Winston Tuck Loke Tam mistreated them and their babies, while becoming the top billed obstetrician-gynecologist in BC, taking home millions in public money. The Globe and Mail investigation found within a year of finishing his residency at UBC, his earnings skyrocketed from $176,000 in 2001 to $875,000 in 2002. Patients are demanding to know why Dr Tam wasn’t investigated sooner.
