It is one subject no one wants to talk about, in churches of all places! Death. Sure, it is a morbid topic, but never talking about it certainly does not make death go away, and it leaves us woefully ill-prepared to deal with it when it's our turn to die, sometimes a lot sooner than we had hoped. Not that I myself was interested in the topic but that all changed when I witnessed how my father handled the devasting news that he had only several months to live due to cancer. So it is from my father that I learned about dying well in Christ. Yes, he died very quickly after finding out about the disease, but the way he died gave me a vivid picture of how I would like to depart this world when it is my turn.
