Facing The Unknown

My brothers and sisters, I’m sure you will agree that, for the past few months or so, we have been increasingly facing an unknown of many sides. It’s a global unknown… We as a nation or a group of nations don’t know what the future holds as a result of this pandemic. How will our nations change? What will be the resulting political tide? How will our economy hold up in light of the protracted pandemic? It’s a societal unknown…
We as a nation are also dealing with discrimination that, although ingrained in our society, continues to be highlighted at flashpoints such as at the murder of George Floyd. Will we continue to dig our heels in the sand on one side or the other of the racial divide and hope it will all blow over? Or will we earnestly seek reconciliation and restoration for social injustice? It’s a personal unknown… We as individuals are dealing with the physical, emotional, and spiritual trauma of these unknowns. If truth be told, we do not want to be where we are today. We've had the support system we usually could count on pulled from under us. In addition, our social support structure has changed… The schoolhouse, the church house, the courthouse, the retail house, even our own house had to remain closed. What a change! Did we really expect this new normal — this unknown territory?
In this episode, we will turn our attention to the exodus of the children of Israel to glean some lessons learned as they launched into their God-ordained unknown.
