Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury, Part 1 - 2, narrated by Isaac Birchall
In this chapter, Montag comes home after is strange talk with the girl Clarisse. As he walks inside, all of the lights are off, but he can hear a very small humming noise coming from the bedroom. He goes inside, and finds his wife to be 'sleeping'. Making his way around the bed, he kicks a glass bottle that was, this morning, full of sleeping pills. Montag freaks and calls the emergency service to have some doctors safe his wife.  The strange men come and pump Mildred's stomach. they are very undisturbed by the whole event, and after they have finished, claim that they have received another call about a similar issue down the road. The next morning, Mildred claims that she has no memory of the event, and only finds it strange that she very hungry. When questioned by Montag about the event, she denies that she would do such a thing, and asks Montag why he would make up such a horrid lie.
