In this chapter, following the horrific events of the previous fire, Montag is ill, and cannot go to work, thinking that he won't ever go back. He thinks over the events of the horrific evening, and what could be in the books that she tried to protect that she could burn herself over; what mystical knowledge could be inside the books that would cause someone to end their life.  Milly says that Montag is just being silly, and that Montag will go in later. Montag just wants her to understand, but Milly being Milly, isn't hearing any of it.
