We all have those seasons where it feels like the harder you try to get ahead, the more you fall behind. You try to be more careful about your money and as soon as you begin seeing some extra in your account, an emergency hits that drains you again.  New Year was a time to set new goals on healthy eating, but at just the wrong moment, you have to go to a party and you wind up eating what you shouldn’t. Bumps in the road are normal and can be endured.  But what really derails us is discouragement. We think that our hard work will never make a difference.  Jesus talks to His disciples this night about the response they are going to get from those who call themselves “God’s people.” It is surprising to hear, but we can imagine it was hard not to be discouraged when they were living it out. Let’s see if we can learn the same lesson Jesus tried to teach them so that we can be ready to change the world.
