faire la grasse matinée. faire – to do or to make, la – the, grasse – fat, matinée – morning. faire la grasse matinée means to sleep later than usual, to stay in bed, ‘to sleep in’.

* « Ma réunion est dans l’après-midi et j’ai pu faire la grasse matinée. Je me sens super bien. »

* “My meeting is in the afternoon and I was able to sleep in this morning. I feel really great.”
