The circus train rattled through the country, its black iron bus clopping against the rails, bank entwining into the sky. Inside the brightly painted boxcars, creatures stirred in their coops and players dozed in hammocks, rocking with the stir. The circus was on the move again, bringing its spectacle of wonder and horselaugh to a new city. In the warm straw of one of the buses , a mama giant named Mrs. Goliath lay resting. She was patient, staid, and quiet, respected by the other mammoths for her grace. But this evening, she was wide awake, her heart racing with expectation. A stork had visited her before in the season with a pledge she'd soon have a shin of her own.
