Faith Audio Arsenal | Fragrance or Stench?

Listen Later

2 Corinthians 2:15–16 says the message of Christ carries a scent — to some it’s the fragrance of life, to others it reeks of death. We saw this play out in real time at the Charlie Kirk Memorial. For many believers, the true presence of God and the power of the Holy Spirit were undeniable. It was a holy moment, a spark of revival in our lifetime. But for those not walking in the Spirit, it was dismissed, even ridiculed. Same event. Same message. Totally different perception.

That’s the dividing line: if the Good News feels like stench instead of life, you’re not as close to God as you think. Being a “good person” won’t save you — only Christ will. This song, Fragrance or Stench, was written to shine a light on that reality. If the gospel offends, it’s a warning call: repent, return to Christ, and breathe in the fragrance of life before it’s too late.

Lyrics:

“Fragrance or Stench”

Verse 1I’m a fragrance of Christ, spreading truth in the air,Some smell life in the message, some choke on despair. To the saved, it’s a perfume, hope in the rhyme,But the lost catch a whiff and it reeks every time.Eternal aroma, can’t fake this scent,You either breathe grace, or choke on what’s sent. The Gospel divides, yo, it cuts like a knife,Death unto death or life into life.

ChorusFragrance or stench, yo, which one you breathe?Life in the Spirit or death when you leave.Good News rising, can’t straddle the fence,Christ is the scent — fragrance or stench.

Verse 2Walkin’ through the crowd like incense burn,To the humble, it’s a blessing, to the proud, it’s scorn.Truth’s in the air, man, you gotta decide,Repent and receive, or run and go hide. It’s not just words, it’s eternity’s call,Accept or reject, but the stakes are tall. One nose smells heaven, the other smells doom,Same sweet gospel — but it clears the room.

ChorusFragrance or stench, yo, which one you breathe?Life in the Spirit or death when you leave.Good News rising, can’t straddle the fence,Christ is the scent — fragrance or stench.

Verse 3See the saints nod heads, they inhale with grace,But the rebels scrunch noses, can’t handle His face. It’s the same good news, but reactions split,One soul’s revived, one can’t handle it.That’s the power of Christ, man, it shows who’s real,Who’s drawn to the light, and who fights the seal. From the cross comes the scent, can’t erase the tone,Choose life in the Lamb, or be left alone.

ChorusFragrance or stench, yo, which one you breathe?Life in the Spirit or death when you leave.Good News rising, can’t straddle the fence,Christ is the scent — fragrance or stench.

Verse 4So which way you headed, what smell do you take?Life everlasting, or death in the wake?If the gospel offends, better check your stance,‘Cause the judgment is coming, no second chance.Repent right now, let the fragrance in,Let Christ clean house, let His Spirit win.2 Corinthians drops the line so clear —The aroma of Christ shows the end is near.

Chorus (Outro)Fragrance or stench, yo, which one you breathe?Life in the Spirit or death when you leave.Good News rising, can’t straddle the fence,Christ is the scent — fragrance or stench.
