Have you ever been incredibly busy but realized you weren’t actually getting anywhere?

Years ago, I buried my Polaris ATV so deep in a mud pit that the water and muck came almost to my shoulders. My buddy and I dug, pushed, pulled, and worked harder and harder, but every attempt seemed to make things worse.

We were busy. We just weren’t productive.

It took swallowing our pride, asking for help, and watching people with the right knowledge, tools, and approach finally get us unstuck.

That experience reminds me a lot of life, leadership, and especially sales.

Are we creating real value for people, or are we simply checking boxes? Are we listening and asking good questions, or just waiting for our opportunity to sell? When someone gives us their time, they are giving us something they can never get back.

In this Faith • Focus • Fortitude message, we’ll talk about the difference between activity and progress, why serving should come before selling, and how asking better questions can help us create genuine value for the people we serve.

Don’t measure your day simply by how much you did. Measure it by how much value you created.

Everyone wants to feel seen, heard, valued, and loved.

But how often do we intentionally make someone else feel that way?

In this Faith • Focus • Fortitude™ message, I share a simple encounter in an airport elevator that reminded me just how powerful appreciation can be.

A gentleman stepped onto the elevator carrying a bouquet of roses for his wife and daughter. What started as a little laughter between complete strangers became a reminder that some of life’s most meaningful moments happen when we simply slow down, notice people, and show them they matter.

We’ll talk about appreciation, thankfulness, gratitude, kindness, listening, understanding our differences, and serving others without expecting anything in return.

Most importantly, we’ll look at how Jesus modeled what it means to truly see and value people, and how we can reflect His love through the ordinary moments of our everyday lives.

Because appreciation isn’t just something we say.

It’s something people experience when they’re around us.

This week, I challenge you to do three simple things:

Tell someone specifically why you appreciate them.

Give someone your undivided attention and truly listen.

Do one act of kindness without looking for recognition or anything in return.

You may not be able to change the entire world today.

But you can make a difference in someone’s world today.

So here’s the question:

Who can you appreciate today?

What’s Holding You Up?

What keeps a road from cracking?

What keeps a tree standing through a storm?

What keeps a house from collapsing?

Structure.

While driving down the road, I noticed a new concrete road being built beside the old one. Before the concrete was poured, underneath it was an entire network of steel reinforcement.

Soon, nobody will ever see that reinforcement.

But it’s part of what will help that road stand up to years of use.

That got me thinking about trees and their roots… houses and their foundations… and eventually, my own life.

How’s my structure?

And maybe that’s a question worth asking yourself too.

How’s your faith?

Your marriage?

Your health?

Your finances?

Your character?

Your discipline?

Are your roots growing deeper in God’s Word, prayer, wisdom, and obedience—or are you simply working on what everybody else can see?

Jesus taught about the wise man who built his house on the rock in Matthew 7:24–27. The storm still came. The rain still fell. The wind still blew.

But the house stood.

The difference was the foundation.

Strong lives aren’t built by accident.

They’re built one prayer at a time.

One decision at a time.

One act of obedience at a time.

One choice at a time.

One day at a time.

So don’t just work on what people can see.

Strengthen what only God can see.

Because storms don’t send calendar invitations. They simply arrive.

And when they do…

you won’t stand because of what people see. You’ll stand because of what you’ve built underneath.

Who is learning from the way you live?

We often think influence belongs to leaders, speakers, pastors, or people with large platforms.

But the truth is—you already have influence.

In this episode of Faith • Focus • Fortitude™, I share a story from when I was around 10 years old and spent time watching craftsmen work at a neighborhood cabinet shop. One small opportunity to sweep a floor taught me lessons about service, trust, character, and influence that I wouldn’t fully understand until many years later.

We’ll talk about what it means to serve before you sell, why some of the people who influence us most may never realize the difference they made, and what Jesus teaches us about using our influence to serve rather than simply being served.

Because influence isn’t only found in the big moments.

It’s found in how we treat people.

How we respond when things don’t go our way.

How we serve when there’s nothing in it for us.

And how we live when we think nobody is watching.

So here’s the question:

What is your life teaching the people around you?

Don’t worry about being impressive.

Be intentional.

Don’t focus on being noticed.

Focus on being faithful.

Because long after people forget what you said…

they’ll remember the life they watched you live.

And never forget…

This week, I had a completely different message planned.

But throughout the week, God kept redirecting my heart toward one simple truth:

None of us become who we are alone.

As I reflected on my life, I found myself thinking about the people God used to shape me an encouraging teacher who never gave up on me, a grandmother who loved me unconditionally, a father who taught me respect, hard work, and perseverance, faithful friends who stood beside me during some of my hardest moments, my wife and daughter who continue to encourage me every day, and above all, Jesus Christ, who has transformed my life by His grace.

Each of them reminds me that God often works through ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things.

In this episode, I invite you to reflect on two questions that have been on my heart:

* Who is one person that helped shape your life?

* Who are you becoming for someone else?

My prayer is that this message encourages you to thank the people who invested in you, while also challenging you to become the kind of person who believes in others, serves others, and points them toward Christ.

Because one conversation…

One act of kindness…

One encouraging word…

One faithful life…

can change someone forever.
