Hello Hive! Tropical Storm Wipha hit Hong Kong on July 20th, but the real challenge came Sunday morning. I had prepped three dishes for our church's birthday celebration: Lumpiang Shanghai, Afritadang Manok, and Pansit Bihon. By 7:30 AM Sunday, the storm arrived — just as I had finished cooking the Pansit Bihon.
What could I do? The Lumpiang Shanghai still needed frying! So I pressed on: cleaning my employer's space, cooking through the storm, and hoping for a miracle.
And we got one. By 5 PM, the storm passed. By 6 PM, our church group gathered to share the Pansit Bihon and freshly fried Lumpiang Shanghai. We celebrated a bittersweet farewell to a dear friend moving to Europe for her new job.
Though plans changed, nothing was wasted—and our little feast became a testament to gratitude and resilience. Enjoy this film capturing the chaos, cooking, and community that carried us through the storm.
Now I hope you enjoy the pictures and my video (if you want to check it in YouTube go here), and thank you for your endless support!
