The idea of being a gladiator might have a glamorous or glorious reputation, on the surface. But what you may not realize is that these gladiators were trained to kill, but also were just part of a chess game for entertainment, in the Roman culture. These people were incredibly courageous, but they knew their whole purpose was to go to the arena and eventually be killed.
