Without faith it is impossible to please God.  So states the writer of the Book of Hebrews. Jesus said:  "According to your faith be it done unto you."   We are to walk by faith, and not by sight.  God tested Abraham.  God will test those whp belong to Him.  He will test our faith so that we can know the reality of our faith condition before Him.  Faith is not some empty intellectual idea that one writes in a book for other to read.  Faith is a living and dynamic reality.  The appropriate object of faith for believing ones is the person of Jesus!
