  • The scope of falls as a public health issue and CDC STEADI initiatives for fall prevention across the continuum of care
  • Prevention of falls as the best management
  • Consequences of falls to aging adults from a quality of life after fall perspective and financial costs
  • Challenge of falls in the acute care setting and post-discharge
  • Effective approaches: Interprofessional communication, acknowledgment, and agreement that all team members play an active role in mobilizing patients
  • Recognition that all aging adults admitted to the hospital are fall risks and need a physician and NPP referral for ensuring continuing rehab post-hospitalization following discharge
