Megan's great-grand-uncle enlisted in Maitland on 22 August 1914 and was killed at Gallipoli on 21 August 1915, serving alongside three of his brothers in the light horse. The family discovered this connection when Megan's daughter researched a Year 8 school assignment about World War I.
