I'm glad the story isn't over.
The story ended too soon. I judge a book by how sorry I am that I have reached the end. I was very sorry there wasn't more. The story held my interest. Of course, the best part was the many walks down memory lane in Pomona. I was a sophomore when the high school burned down. There was almost nothing the twins did that didn't take place in familiar places. The book also made me realize that we, in our memories, may tend to oversimplify that era. It was a halcyon time to me. But, in all honesty, people have always had the same problems that they had. People struggle to find love, may have money problems or kids who go astray. But, my home town is a precious memory to me and it was brought to life in this book. Please keep the story going.
interesting
It kept my attention for all the references to the familiar local places I knew and trying to guess the person who the character might have been based. ( never figured out anyone though). I would recommend this book to a preteen and persons who grew up and attended Pomona High during the forties and fifties when the school was so grand. The beautiful auditorium not a convertible gym, where the drama class put on "professional" plays with props, curtains, lighting and the printing press where the journalism class wrote, set type and printed the school newspaper.
A criticism for me was some dialog was awkward, but I am in awe of a classmate who wrote a book and published it and got it on Amazon! What an accomplishment! Congratulations, you should be very proud.
awesome book
Just finished book 1 & 2......... Can't wait for the next installment.
Great story about growing up in pomona. The life and loves of these two girls is so much fun to read about.
Living in pomona myself it is so nice to read about places that are no longer there but were a big part of the city's past.
Perfect read for older teens and up
Great Read
I simply could not put this book now... Feeling like "what am I going to read now?" I will be anxiously waiting the next book..
What a Long Strange Trip It's Been
Twin girls coming of age in the fifties in Pomona, California, were all about boys with cars, drive-in restaurants, drive-in theaters, and school dances. Emma and Jani came to be born in Pomona because their grandmother fled a small town in Iowa with her alcoholic husband to make a fresh start in the land of opportunity. That didnât really work out as planned and Jake met an unfortunate end. Fast forward several years and two teenage girls are doing their best to give their parents ulcers.
In the Beginning is the first volume of Tami Millerâs Family Forever series, a candid family history told in the form of a novel.
