Luke 15:11-31 Parable of the Lost Son

1. The Prodigal Son

a. Young, dumb, gonna do whatever he wants

to do.

b. You may get what you want...but you may

not want what you get.

c. Pain drove him to repentance.

d. Make me like one of your hired servants.

2. The Patient Father

a. He agreeingly divided up his livelihood.

b. He didn’t chase after his son.

c. He did keep a watchful eye on the horizon.

d. You can see the maturity in the patient

father who has learned that position makes

you part of the family...not production.

3. The Religious Son

a. The work oriented other son threw a fit

because he never got a party.

b. He didn’t even know his father...this is what

happens to many christians.

c. He thought production made him part of the

family...and a lack of production “this son of

yours” kept you out of the family.

Truth without mercy is mean...mercy without truth is

meaningless.
