This week Tom and LeAnn Fraley shared a family moment with us.
They apologized as spiritual parents on behalf of the church at large for three primary things.
First, that the church hasn’t paid enough attention to the struggles of minorities. From the beginning the church was multi-ethnic, and that is the heart of the Lord. We need to do better at recognizing and reconciling that.
Secondly, that the church has become fixated on political (instead of spiritual) power as the way to bring change. Only Jesus can bring the change we desire, and far too often we have allowed politics to rule and shape us.
Thirdly, we have treated each other so poorly and with contempt. This contempt has led to divisions among us that do not honor Jesus.
We need to do better and allow Jesus to make us more and more like Him as His church.
