Alina begins to bond with General Kirigan. Tensions are high between Nina and her Fjerdan captor. Kaz, Inej, Jesper, and Arken start to finalize their plans for getting into the little palace.  Alina frees herself so that she can fully focus on her Grisha training. Mal's mission is ultimately successful, but extracts a heavy price.
