Aaron returns with more Fantastic Fest 2022 goodness! This episode takes listeners inside filmmaker Mickey Reece's latest effort, Country Gold. The film is a spiritual companion to Mickey Reece's Alien, which finds him trading in Elvis iconography for that of Garth Brooks and George Jones. This contemplative comedy really hits hard, and it might be Reece's best effort to date — something we find ourselves saying every time he makes a new film. Imagine the surrealism of David Lynch and the philosophy of Richard Linklater combined with the energy of David O. Russell ensembles, and you're in the ballpark of this gem of a hangout flick. The Q&A features Reece alongside fellow actor Ben Hall, with a slew of cast and crew present as well. It's a great time — and one you won't want to miss out on!
