Part two! We’re back in Eldraine for the last piece of our first multi-part episode inspired by your friend and mine: Grumgully the Generous. The full card list for the episode is below, and you may want to listen to part one if you haven’t already.
Here’s the card list for part two:
Vantress Paladin
Improbable Alliance
Ardenvale Paladin
Syr Konrad, the Grim
Smitten Swordmaster
Grumgully, the Generous
Rankle, Master of Pranks
Cauldron Familiar (returns!)
Castle Vantress
Gadwick, the Wizened
The Magic Mirror
Revenge of Ravens
This month we’re back in Eldraine to answer a call sent out by Spice 8 Rack (kind of).
“Where is the people’s Grumgully story, Kate Elliot? You have failed to provide the people of this world with their deserved Grumgully short story!” - 37:13, “Accessibility in Media & the Absolute State of MTG’s Story" I may not be Kate Elliot, but I, too, love that uncommon legendary creature, so here we are.
This ended up being a two-parter, so the conclusion of this narrative will be next month’s episode.
Here’s the list of cards from Throne of Eldraine that are utilized in this episode:
Vantress Paladin
Emry, Lurker of the Loch
Edgewall Innkeeper
Improbable Alliance
Ardenvale Paladin
Syr Konrad, the Grim
Smitten Swordmaster
Grumgully, the Generous
Rankle, Master of Pranks
Cauldron Familiar (returns!)
This episode is another bonus, and a rule-breaker! No cards, no sets this time. I’m busy working on the next episode of the podcast and I feel, like I imagine some of you are feeling, terribly cooped up.
So here’s a quick moment where we peek in on some particularly famous Planeswalkers on their day off.
Howdy folks! Happy March 32nd.
This month’s episode is all about Golos, Tireless Pilgrim, he comes from Coreset 2020.
The Coresets in Magic don’t have one specific plane where the cards are from, they pull from all over the place so we’re breaking the rules a little bit this month. The setting is a pretty standard fantasy world in which Golos wanders as an actual pilgrim all over the planet, and has been doing so as far as anyone can remember. The card list is below:
Ancestral Blade
Golos, Tireless Pilgrim
Rugged Highlands
Bag of Holding
Ferocious Pup
This episode was inspired by a bit of text from an article published in the Mothership where the designers specifically state that Golos was meant as a throwback to Solemn Simulacrum (which is why that card is mentioned in the episode even though it wasn’t printed in Corset 2020).
Lots of folks are struggling right now due to the world being in the midst of a pandemic, so here are some MTG-content creators worth your time and money if you’ve got any to spare:
Color of Magic (podcast)
Mr. B (artist)
See you next month (but probably earlier because I’m gonna’ put out a bonus episode this month since we’re all stuck inside for a while).
[Pre-S: we’re changing the name of the podcast. Mostly to not step on the toes of the venerable folks at The Vorthos Cast]
Hey friends, this episode is a COVID-19 bonus! Since we’re all cooped up, I figured I’d take this episode out of the backlog and push it out early. There will still be an episode on April 1st, but for now we’re in Eldraine and covering my favorite card from that set: Gingerbrute.
Okay maybe not mechanically my favorite.
Anyway, this story uses the following cards from Throne of Eldraine:
Gingerbrute
Tempting Witch
Witch’s Oven
Tome Raider
Cauldron Familiar
Next month: Golos! (Coreset 2020)
This month brings us to Kaladesh, and features cards from that set. Big fan of the color and the Indian influences in this set, so that made its way into the music a bit. As always here’s the list of cards used in reference for this piece:
Dovin Baan
Skywhaler’s Shot
Dhund Operative
Highspire Aritsan
Longfinned Skywhale
Glint-Nest Crane
Essence Extraction
Eddytrail Hawk
Veteran Motorist
Plains (250)
Next month: Eldraine!

A podcast about cards from Magic: the Gathering that are chalk full of story-telling potential, but don’t make it into the official narrative. We take those cards and tell those stories in audio…
