Nasa's lander has safely made it to Mars, touching down successfully shortly after 9am NZ time.
The InSight craft has survived a 480 million kilometre journey through space, and temperatures of 1500 degrees through the atmosphere.
The spacecraft is going to help the American space agency gather data about the interior of the red planet.
InSight's payload systems engineer Farah Alibay told Mike Hosking they have only done this kind of landing once before in the past decade.
"As it is with any landing on Mars, it is not something we do very often. This is only the second time this has been achieved in the last decade, so it is quite an achievement."
