Farmers take the streets to call for the end of Dormex use in SA

Our next guests have been working alongside employees on farms to raise issues surrounding their working conditions. Yesterday, farmworkers took to the streets to protest and call for the end of the use of Dormex in SA agricultural sector. In European Union, the deadly pesticide has been banned and yet, the South African government has allowed for the pesticides to be purchased and used in commercial farming. The pesticide has said to have immense health consequences leading to neuro-toxicity and it can lead to cancer. The protest also highlighted the lack of health as well as safety procedures required to protect farmworkers from exposure and necessary coverage in case of illness.
