Getting into a PhD program in North America is hard. For Iranians, it's even harder! Master's graduate in electrical engineering (control systems) from Isfahan University of Technology—Danial secured four PhD positions across the US and Canada, but both countries still rejected his visa applications. We discuss what happened. This conversation is native-level, but I added dozens of bilingual captions. Thanks to my patrons! I wouldn't have been making video interviews had it not been for you. Farsi Plateau is a podcast for Persian learners at intermediate level. The main podcast is on Spotify and other podcast platforms. There is also a Patreon page where you can support the project.
This is my second cooking video for intermediate Persian learners. I'm not a cook. I just like teaching people Persian!
A week ago, I started learning French. Here I explain, in intermediate Persian, how and why I'm learning it.
Season 3 finale. Episode 10: Leila's Brothers.
In this episode, I talk about a 2022 masterpiece, Leila's Brothers, by Saeed Roustayi. I say no more about it here! You should listen.
Great thanks to Adel for talking to me about Iranian movies in 6 out of ten episodes. Thanks also to Mona, Adel's Farsi and Literature instructor in Budapest, whose conversation with Adel about The House is Black became episode 7. Finally, thanks to Milad Ebadat for talking to me about his favorite movie, Hit the Road, which is now also one of my favorites.
Hope you all enjoyed this season. I'll be back with sporadic video episodes and then season 4.
Episode 09, season 3: Resident of the Middle Floor.
Season 3 is about Iranian movies—ten episodes, ten Iranian movies. In this episode, I talk about Resident of the Middle Floor, a 2014 movie directed by Shahab Hosseini, who's also the main character of the movie.
Episode 08, Season 3: Hit the Road.
In this episode, Milad and I talk about Hit the Road, a 2021 movie directed by Panah Panahi. It's the story of a family and their sick dog who are on a covert trip to the Azerbaijan-Iran border. There their older son is due to be smuggled out of the country.
I recorded another episode with Milad before. Here is the link:

I mistakenly said, in the intro, that this family is headed to the Iran-Turkey border. In fact, they are headed to the Azerbaijan-Iran border.
