Pastor Paul continues our series Connect Deeply, preaching this week from Matthew 6:16-18 and Luke 4:1-4.

Disciplines are a way to make the soil of our heart good ground for the seed of intimacy with God to grow richly. Fasting reminds us to keep coming to God all day long. The reason for hunger pains is to focus our attention on God. If we don’t do that, then it is all in vain.

Key Verse: But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen. (Matthew 6:18)
