Fasting for Breakthrough

There once was a young woman named Ada who had been praying for her husband’s salvation for years. She wept, worshipped, and waited—but nothing changed. One Sunday, she heard a sermon on fasting and decided to commit herself to a three-day fast. On day two, her husband, without explanation, walked into the living room and said, “Tell me about your God again.” That day marked the beginning of his transformation.

Fasting isn’t magic. It’s not hunger for the sake of pain. It’s hunger for God.

In Matthew 6, Jesus doesn’t say “if” you fast. He says “when.” Fasting is meant to be part of our spiritual rhythm. It humbles the flesh and aligns our spirit with Heaven. It removes the noise so we can hear the whisper of God.

Breakthrough often comes when we go beyond the usual. Fasting is a declaration: God, You matter more than comfort. I need You more than answers. I long for You more than food.
