An Exotic Read

As always,Dobbyn makes reading his novels a delight for the hidden agendas contained therein.One,the illegal exotic animal trade, was covered in exquisite detail leaving me (and probably most readers) with the most up to date input on this horrific and growing criminal enterprise.

Ever the great story teller,Dobbyn weaves his Fatal Odds tale from Boston to Florida to Puerto Rico to Brazil mixed with plenty of action and mystery to keep one riveted;ie.,another non stop,cover to cover read. Horse racing,drugs,exotic animals blended with the mafia and Hispanic gangs make for plenty of intrigue.The chapter on life in the Brazilian jungle was both riveting and educational, making Fatal Odds a must read for animal lovers everywhere.

Great Thriller that Captures the Legal Tribes of Boston

The third in a series of thrillers built around a young Irish lawyer and his older established partner as they take on powerful interests. No one captures the feel of Boston and its legal tribes better. Although its clear that the author has spent too much of his time at the race track, the reader benefits from his insights. I finished it one gulp.

I've read all of Mr. Dobbyn's works and this, by far is the most intriguing. From the Amazon River to Puerto Rico, Mr. Dobbyn takes us on an intense ride for ultimately salvation of endangered species to salvation of humanity by avoiding a massive intrusion of drugs into the US, from it's neighboring territory of Puerto Rico. I've always loved the reflective nuances of Mr. Knight and he weaves the involvement of a grandfather and his grandson in saving contraband exotic animals from possible death and certainly a caged existence. The author's end notes concerning the very real problem of exotic animals on the endangered species list is fascinating reading.

They are all great but Fatal Odds is the best yet!

All of the books by John Dobbyn have captured me from the very beginning but "Fatal Odds" is riveting from the first page. The twists and turns of the story keep you on edge until the end. I just wonder how Mr. Dobbyn manages to keep all the ins and outs straight and ties it all together in the end. I simply couldn't put it down... Like all of his books, this one also is a true learning experience.
