Star crossed lovers....
This is the second installment of the "Fate" series and takes off immediately where book #1Fate Interrupted (Book 1 of 2)left off....with Dean Jacobs trying to dig himself out of the dangerous mess his past dalliances have placed him and everyone he cares about.
Thirty four year old Dean Jacobs is a womanizing player. Women flock to him without any work on his part. He's a womanizing legend among his guy pals. He's also lonely and lost....he never feels like he belongs anywhere. Then he see's Evy Burnett and set's out to finagle a meeting. She shuts him down! He keeps trying and finally she relents and it's as if the planets have suddenly aligned themselves. He feels as if he's come home. As if he and Evy were fated to be.
The drama continues with Evy Burnett and Dean Jacobs trying to get their lives on track...trying to outwit certain under-handed politicians who strong-arm their way into forcing their demands...including ruining businesses and reputations. Nothing is sacred. This story, though predictable at times, is very fast paced and easy to read. Very entertaining.
The only downside for me was that I connected better with the secondary characters (Ben and Brooke) than I did with the main characters. Ben and Brooke were a hoot!
Nevertheless, hats off to Ms. Cross for an entertaining job well done!
Dean & Evy make it but at times I wondered....
This book was like a see-saw....up-down....up-down. This reader was clearly dizzy by the end. What impressed me however, is Dean and his utter belief in how he felt about Evy. He may have been distracted but he stayed focused on the goal which was for he and Evy to have their happily ever after. For so much of this book poor Evy was just like a zombie making the motions through her life and waiting for something good, or bad to happen. She loved Dean but wasn't sure if they could be together due to Clay's disruption into their romance.
The first book was more exciting in that it sets up for what follows in this book. This is the anti-climax and fall-out part of the story and everything does get attended to quite nicely. Angst.....oh yes.....there be plenty of that in this book! I hated what Clay did to Dean and how Dean almost becomes the victim because Clay is always ahead of Dean's plans. Thankfully, Dean redeems himself at the end and he and Evy do get that HEA.
Now for Ben and Brooke's story which this reader is very interested in finding out how they got together. They are VERY hot.....

Evy and Dean are cute together and I enjoyed reading their story! There are a few things I liked about this story, one... It wasn't too far fetched.. It was a realistic thing between the two of them.. They clicked and connected..
