(Sermon preached August 2, 2026) When Jesus says, "Ask, and it shall be given; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened," it is in the context of the Sermon on the Mount. Matthew 7:7-11 are meant as encouragement to those who are living into the kindom.

Mark 11:12-19 is the beginning of Monday and tells the story of Jesus overturning the tables in the temple, sandwiched between a story about a fig tree. In both places, when Jesus looks for fruit, there is none.
