Though, here at FDNY, when someone asks, ‘Who you gonna call?’ Our answer is always, ‘9-1-1 in a real emergency!’ Chloe talks to Deputy Assistant Chief Denise Werner from Emergency Medical Dispatch all about when to call 9-1-1, who answers your call and what to say when you need help.

We’re coming to you from the FDNY Smokehouse! Also known as the Mobile Fire Safety Experience truck. It’s a roving teaching tool equipped with fake smoke and a darkened hallway simulator, that helps us drive home our fire safety lessons. One lesson that is so important to remember is closing the door when escaping a fire and closing your bedroom doors before you doze. Our guest in this episode is Chief of Fire Operations John Esposito who reminds us that if there is a fire in your home, closing the door when escaping helps keep smoke and fire from spreading.

Our guest is Ann O’Brien, Deputy Director of Fire Dispatch Operations, who reminds us that it is important to call 9-1-1 as soon as there’s an emergency because things can get worse—quickly.

They talk rechargeable, or Lithium-ion batteries – the ones that power your phones, tablets, e-scooters and e-bikes – and how to keep them safe.

The summer is a fun time of year! But, there are a few safety tips that we should all review to make sure the season stays fun and injury-free. In this episode, we discuss how to be #FDNYSmart during the summer by talking to our fire safety expert, Captain Michael Kozo.
