Romance and intrigue, murder and mayhem– the 1996 neo-noir erotic thriller Fear may have been a sleeper-hit at the box office but quickly found its place on the video store shelf as a scary sleepover staple. The film stars a young Reese Witherspoon opposite Mark Wahlberg, early in their now-successful film careers. Witherspoon plays Nicole, a sweet, smart and curious teenaged girl who falls for the ultra-hot David (played by Wahlberg), a sensitive boy who is hiding a dark past. A teenaged love story with an erotic-horror bent, the film features an idyllic setting in Washington state, an exploration of parent-child relationships, and the show-stopping scene on a rollercoaster no one can forget. The hosts discuss everything from Mark Wahlberg’s sketchy past to the very 1996 fashion on display throughout the film.
