In the sad state of the world today, one thing has become more and more clear. American Christianity is a religion driven more by fear than faith. Fearfulness drives us to suspicious. It drives us to be paranoid. It drives us to hate. Fear has no place within Christianity, it only toxifies and warps worldviews and drives us as far from love as we can be.

If Jesus said, "fear not," why has fear become such a driving force that has seeped into the ethos of Christianity? Is Christ no longer an active ingredient in the faith?

The Christian church has become feckless, selfish, weak, and driven by fear. We don't have to stand for it. We weren't commanded to be complacent. Christ's words and commands are as relevant to today as they were years ago. We're not commanded to follow a faith that's driven by fearfulness. We're called to live out the ways of Jesus and make a difference in the world around us.
