Tonight we delve into some of the more familiar aspects of the book of Proverbs, specifically some of the terminology. When Proverbs uses the term “wisdom” what exactly does that mean? Also, when Proverbs uses the phrase “the fear of the Lord” what does that mean? Why is one of them the beginning of the other? Is all of that just poetic language that accompanies those ten speeches in the first nine chapters in the literary style of an allegory? Those are all great questions, important questions! And to help us understand them, let’s look at the most famous story related to wisdom in all of Scripture, Solomon. My hope is that with this sermon, not only will your glossary of Proverbial terminology is going to get an upgrade but your life will begin to Make Room for the relationship the Holy Spirit wants to have with you so that your life can be begin to look more like the life Jesus…the voice of Lady Wisdom still speaks, pointing us to the life of the Royal King!
