“Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life, but he who rejects reproof leads others astray.” — Proverbs 10:17

“And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church and taught a great many people. And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians.” — Acts 11:26

Ever feel like you’re just trying to figure out who you are and where you’re going? Maybe you’ve wondered, “What does it even mean to be a Christian, and how do I know I’m doing it right?” In Proverbs 10:17, we’re reminded that listening to wise advice keeps us on the right path.

In Acts 11, we get a glimpse of early believers in Antioch who were first called Christians—not because they had a label, but because their lives reflected Jesus. They were known for living out their faith, listening to God, and sticking together. You don’t have to have all the answers right now, but you do need to pay attention to the voices that lead you toward life.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Check Your GPS: Who are you listening to? Are your friends, mentors, and media influences helping you follow Jesus—or pulling you off course?

2. Live the Label: Being called a Christian isn’t about a title. It’s about showing Jesus through how you treat others, what you stand for, and how you love.

3. Growth Happens Together: The believers in Antioch didn’t grow in isolation—they met together, learned together, and followed Jesus as a community. Are you staying connected to people who help you grow in your faith?
