I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying—and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles. Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.          1 Timothy 2:1-8

…I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God,…        1 Timothy 3:15

18 Timothy, my son, I am giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by recalling them you may fight the battle well, 19 holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith. 20 Among them are Hymenaeusand Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme. I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—          1 Timothy 1:18-20 & 1 Timothy 2:1

Praying churches always have prayer as a top priority

30 “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one. 31 So I will pour out my wrath on them and consume them with my fiery anger, bringing down on their own heads all they have done, declares the Sovereign Lord.”  Ezekiel 22:30-31

Praying churches don’t only pray for “their” people because praying churches pray for all people.

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people…          1 Timothy 2:1

Praying churches pray for all people in positions of authority (whether we like them or not)

…for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior…         1 Timothy 2:2-3

Praying churches pray for the salvation of lost souls

3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying—and a true and faithful teacherof the Gentiles.        1 Timothy 2:3-7
