Federal Workers Receive Paychecks After Shutdown

Listen Later

Following the record-long government shutdown, federal workers finally receive relief as paychecks start rolling out. The first wave of payments begins this weekend, with the administration aiming to compensate all employees by Wednesday. The General Services Administration and Office of Personnel Management process back pay for over twelve thousand employees this Saturday, covering base pay only. Paychecks for employees at the departments of Energy, Veterans Affairs, and Health and Human Services, along with the Defense Departments Army and non-Army civilian employees, are expected to arrive this Sunday, including standard pay, overtime, and hazard pay. This comes after President Trump signs a stopgap spending bill, ending the forty-three-day shutdown and reversing planned federal layoffs.
