Feds Join the Fight, Union Work & Defusing Pipeline Politics

Chapter 1:
-Chrystia Freeland will return to the negotiating table in Washington DC today, as Canada attempts to get in on a “new NAFTA” deal with Mexico and the United States. Pressure is mounting on Canada to strike a deal by Friday, which is when the Mexican government changes, and the US wants the current president to enjoy his NAFTA legacy.
Chapter 2:
-Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has written a letter with a mandate to fight organised crime and money laundering in BC. It asks new minister Bill Blair to head up the action, which is designed to counter “guns, gangs and opioid distribution”.
Chapter 3:
-The Independent Contractors and Businesses Association has launched a suit against the provincial government against its new rules for building public infrastructure projects, claiming they’re a violation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Chapter 4:
-Defusing angry arguments between opposing sides of the pipeline debate is the focus of a free talk in Vancouver tonight. Andrew Frank will examine the differing views and take a closer look at what’s behind the debate and why.  This comes on the eve of a Court of Appeal decision which combines nearly two dozen lawsuits, calling on the National Energy Board’s review of Kinder Morgan’s pipeline project to be overturned.
