The priest at our church is nearing retirement. In preparation for when he eventually steps away, he has been challenging the congregation to think about our legacy and our church’s legacy.
This past Sunday, he said something that really caught my attention. I’ll paraphrase it for the sake of context, but it went something like:
“I want you to feel challenged, not insulted. Feel this way because our improvement is worth it.”
It’s easy to feel offended when others criticize or challenge us. However, it’s often worth acknowledging the criticism, learning from it, and making positive changes because of it. Feeling challenged will push you to succeed.
