Her health issues were what drove Mari Carmen Pizarro to rethink her life. To her, a superwoman was a woman who had to push through the pain and fatigue in order to be there for those who depended on her. What she came to realize was that there was a better way, a way to care for herself that enabled her to be personally healthy, more productive, and supercharged in her business in ways she never dreamed. Her corporate mentors saw the changes that were happening in her and when she finally stepped out to take the risk of starting her own business and exploring a new way to serve people along the lines of how she helped herself. “I really didn’t know how to run a business.”

That’s what Mari Carmen Pizzaro says about where she was when she stepped out of the corporate world. She had learned in the corporate world and from her father that she should not show vulnerability. She tried so hard to appear strong and confident. But the reality was that she didn’t really know how to begin a new business. That was the point at which she began stepping out, asking for help in the areas in which she didn’t have skills, and her business began to explode.
