How Feelix Works – Making the Invisible Feelable for the Blind.

Background information on Feelix so I can hopefully understand how it works.

it's about the Kickstarter campaign

My system measures distances optically and transmits this information as pressure on the fingertips with several pins.

Imagine you have a small handheld device with several pins in your hand.

This is Feelix, my system. Feelix, with two E's, as in the word “Feel”.

Feelix can measure the distance to objects and people, such as a wall or a person. This distance is then transferred as pressure to your fingertips. The closer you get to the wall or person, the stronger the pressure on your fingers. This allows you to feel the distance to objects and people, even if you can't see them. And the best thing is: you don't have to touch them! It feels like you're touching them with your fingers, but in reality it's just pressure on your fingers. So you can't hurt or infect yourself. You can even feel fine details, such as the shape of a face or the contours of an object. If you want to find out more about Feelix, take a look at my Kickstarter campaign. There you will find detailed descriptions and you can support Feelix if you are interested.
