Good afternoon! I'm Aaron Jolly. Welcome to the Massachusetts Weather Podcast for Tuesday, February 24th.

Folks, that two inches of fresh snow from yesterday looks pretty in the sunshine. Enjoy the view.. Because this is the calm before round two.

Right now you're at 27 degrees. That's actually the high point. Eastern Mass tops out around 30 with a west wind gusting to 23 miles an hour. That wind cuts right through you. Drive west toward Worcester and you're sitting at 27 degrees. The Berkshires match that, with northwest gusts hitting 22 miles an hour. Eight degrees below normal for late February. Winter isn't done with us.

Tonight is where it gets brutal. Skies stay partly cloudy but temperatures nosedive. Eastern Mass drops to 12 degrees. Central and western areas? Nine degrees. Wind chills around midnight in central Mass make it feel like 9 degree. That's the kind of cold where your car door handle bites back.

Now here's the thing. Snow is already lining up for Wednesday morning. It sneaks into western Mass after 5 A.M. Central areas see it by 7 A.M. Or 8 A.M. Eastern Mass joins the party around 9 A.M. You're looking at two to four inches inland, one to three along the coast. By Wednesday afternoon, coastal spots could see that snow mix with rain.

The week ahead stays restless. Wednesday's snow clears, then another system rolls in Thursday into Friday with more white stuff possible. Highs bounce between the upper 30s and mid 40s. Saturday shapes up as the gem.. Mostly sunny, 43 to 45 degrees. Circle that one.

One more bit of good news. You're gaining almost three minutes of daylight today. Sunset at 5:28. The light is slowly winning.

Charge your phone tonight and scrape that windshield before bed. Future you'll be grateful at 6 A.M.
