Feels Like 9 Degrees | Delaware Weather

Listen Later

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Delaware Weather Podcast — it's Tuesday, February 24th.
We're gaining three minutes of daylight every single day now. Eleven hours and five minutes of sunshine yesterday. Spring's knocking.. But winter's still got the keys.
Step outside right now and you're looking at 30 degrees up north, 36 down south. Mostly sunny skies. That three inches of snow from Sunday? It's melting fast. Enjoy the quiet.. Because tonight gets interesting.
Snow returns after 1 A.M. Northern Delaware sees the heaviest action around 4 A.M. — a 60 percent chance — before it tapers off by 6 A.M. You're looking at a dusting, less than half an inch. Central Delaware gets a similar show, but with a twist. Rain may mix in briefly around 4 A.M. Before flipping back to snow.
Down south? Rain takes over between 3 A.M. And 6 A.M. No snow for you. Warmer air pushes in overnight. And temps actually rise to 36 by morning.
The real bite tonight? Wind. Northern Delaware drops to 22 degrees, but gusts to 15 miles an hour make it feel like 11 at dawn. Southern Delaware? Winds roar at 10 to 20 miles an hour, gusting to 30 overnight.
Here's your week ahead. Wednesday brings a thaw — highs near 50 down south, 48 up north. Then the mess returns Thursday with rain and snow. Friday? Freezing rain and snow mix. Saturday offers a reprieve with highs in the 50s. But snow chances creep back in by Monday.
Tonight's snow is light. But that wind will find every gap in your jacket.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
