Female leadership in the pandemic

Listen Later

In light of International Women's Day, let's take a moment to celebrate competent female leadership this year!!
Tune in for a thoughtful conversation with Kristín Vala Ragnarsdóttir, sustainability scientist, activist, and Professor of Earth Sciences at the Institute of Earth Sciences, University of Iceland.
We discuss Vala's recent publication - which she co-authored last year - on how female-led countries have managed the Covid-19 outbreak. Female-led countries had fewer deaths, were quicker to lock down, and female leaders tend to prioritise human health over economic outcome.
Reflecting on the theme of International Women's Day 2021 #choosetochallenge, we also discuss the challenges female leaders face, and how we can continue to build effective female leaders of today and tomorrow.
International Women’s Day is a day of focus, contemplation and celebration. I hope this episode provides opportunity to be in global solidarity with other women, as well as to honour and herald female leaders throughout history.
