When lawyer John Williamson-Noble began creating stories for his son about a Sydney ferry named Fergus, he had little idea about how influential they would become. Nor did he realise that he would soon develop a skill in writing beautiful stories in rhyming couplets. Inspired by the everyday happenings on Sydney Harbour, the stories began to take on a life of their own, complete with simple messages about life that could help young people navigate the challenges of growing up. Whilst it may seem unusual for stories in very simple English to emanate from the legal profession, John explains that in his line of work in corporate law, it's all about plain English, and that the match is actually not that unusual. The stories have positively influenced thousands of children, and now children are even starting to write their own stories about Fergus and his life on the harbour. In this episode, John shares his journey with Fergus Ferry.
