In this Fiber for Breakfast, Bobby Gonzalez, Principal Executive Officer/Chairman of the Caddo Nation of Oklahoma and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Caddo Communication Enterprises will share informative information related to federally recognized tribes and the push related to broadband in Indian Country under the American Rescue Plan Act. This act provides investment into infrastructure in broadband to provide access to high-quality broadband service in Indian Country into the millions and up to one source of funding that includes $1Billion. These new sources of tribal broadband funding are to assist in mitigating the effects of COVID-19 pandemic which is exacerbating the digital divide across the United States related to Native American communities.
